Historic bungalow remodel in Carrboro

Century-old, craftsman-style bungalow remodel in Carrboro, NC. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, so preserving its character was a priority. We worked to maintain the original characteristics of the house, while bringing a more contemporary flow pattern to the rooms.

We kept and refinished the original floors, removed some of the walls to create more integrated spaces, and added bathrooms to all bedrooms. Other components of the remodel included building out a master bedroom in the former attic space, adding on a family room, extending the kitchen, and adding a deck and outdoor kitchen area.

This project was featured on Chapel Hill Magazine, July/August 2021.

Room-by-room remodeling in Chapel Hill

This ongoing residential project in Chapel Hill is an example of how a remodeling project can evolve at the client’s pace. In this case, instead of remodeling the whole house at once, the client opted for a phased approach. We started this project by remodeling the master bathroom and the daughter’s bathroom in May 2021. The client was so happy with the results they decided to also spruce up their dining and living rooms, concluded in August 2021. We are currently adding a sauna room to the external area and remodeling the daughter’s bedroom.
